morning calves...

I wanted to share some
happy cattle pictures 

in light of all the sad cattle pictures
currently in the news in oz.....

say good morning to our beautiful calves! 

hand reared calves are friendly funny things...

 twice a day until they are 3 months old our calves
are individually bucket-fed
warm whole milk (fresh from the milking)

they have troughs of fresh water to drink
throughout the day and night,
and another trough with calf pellets to eat....
oh and of course there's grass underfoot to nibble on too...

(I am being licked half to death at this moment
despite the gates between us!)

calves have the sweetest eyes..

there are soooooo many little mouths to feed right now 

(more than 70 lining up for twice a day feeding)

ps

** no animal from our property will EVER be carted off in boats 

to be slaughtered in appalling circumstances 

in lands far away

that's a promise

....
