grevillea robusta in bloom

My large Grevillea robusta (or silky oak) is currently in bloom.. what a sight! I have a couple of silky oaks in the yard - they are the largest specimens of the Grevillea family - the flowers emerge from nearly bare branches (even though the tree is not deciduous - it tends to drop its leaves before flowering)... the seed pods that develop from these are fabulous - I'll be sure to take a picci after they form.

Grevillea robusta are extremely good colonisers - they ready sprout from dropped seed (hence the reason why I have a number of them in the yard! - you really have to keep on top of seedlings - or you'll find yourself living in a silky oak forest)
